Fall Check-In Information

parent welcome

Unlike a university whose campus is separated by gates or walls, NYU is very much in and of New York City. Nothing isolates the experiences at NYU from the outside world - our buildings and facilities are another part of a busy metropolis with which we share the streets, sidewalks, parks, and trains. It's nearly impossible to tell where the city begins and the University ends. While studying and living in New York City is a unique and exciting experience, it does present several significant challenges, especially on move-in day. Please refer to the information provided to prepare for your arrival.

Students may not move into their residence hall prior to each semester's official Opening Day.

Upon arrival in the Fall semester, students will check-in at their specific residence hall's Resource Center. Residential Life and Housing Services staff will be available to greet students and provide them with important check-in materials including keys, room inventory reports, area attractions, along with residence hall policies, procedures and amenities.

  • New undergraduates will be able to check-in beginning on Sunday, August 27, 2017.  Specific instructions will be provided with housing assignment details.
  • New graduate students will be able to check-in beginning on Sunday, August 27, 2017.  Specific instructions will be provided with housing assignment details.
  • Returning undergraduates will be able to check-in beginning on Sunday, August 27, 2017.
  • Students with short term/temporary assignments at the Stewart Hotel will be able to check-in beginning at 3:00pm on Sunday, September 3, 2017.
